Show Us Where You Live Friday – The yard
This week’s “show us where you live” features the garage and yard. I’m going to hold back on my garage, though. It’s actually gotten worse in the past two weeks, rather than better. Be sure to check out Kelly’s blog for more š
When we first looked at our house, I fell in love with the yard. The yard and I have a love-hate relationship, now. It’s large for Asheville – .31 acres. And we’re in the city limits. I always envisioned a garden, though, just like my mom and grandma’s gardens. Their gardens are WAY bigger. Because I’m afraid of cutting lines (like cable), we went with boxes for our garden, filled the boxes in with dirt, and the vegetables don’t seem to mind!
This is a view of our back yard, looking towards the street. You can see the garden close to the fence.
Another view of the back yard, looking at the shed.
Our bird house, which actually houses a nest. We thought it was too small and that it was more of a house for looks, than purpose. I’m pretty excited that a bird made a nest in it!
(Yes, I know that one has snow in it, but the next photo is blurry!)

I’m not sure what next week’s topic is, but I know that the “show us where you live” features are quickly running out. What will I show you next??
Great idea to put your garden in raised boxes. It probably helps with weeds too!
I love your yard!! so pretty and i love that huge tree!! Looks great!
Thanks, y’all! š We do have several huge trees, and at least one is going to have to come down before it falls on our roof. (And the raised boxes has definitely helped with weeds!)

Your yard looks so much bigger than .31, ours is .28 but being a pie shape and all it seems so much smaller.
