So this past weekend I got to meet Mendie – in real life! We’ve been blog/twitter/virtual friends for a couple of years and she just happened to be in my area doing some training for work. (Her family even stayed with us for one night before they went back to Ohio.)
We had hoped to get to Biltmore on Friday or even late Saturday, but it turned out to be a hassle and then the whole layoff thing happened, which just threw a wrench into everything. (Seriously. Being unemployed is super time-consuming.)
They came over for dinner on Wednesday night, and my head was still spinning from the layoff, so I don’t know if I was the best company or not. (I insisted they still come over.) The kiddos LOVED playing with each other, so I was really happy they were staying an extra night later in the week.
On Saturday they came over in the morning and we headed straight to the splash pad.
My kid, of course, likes to “drink” the water.
And it ends like this:
It took Grace a bit of time to warm up to the water, but she eventually took a liking to it!
We hit up the mall for lunch (they had never had Chick-fil-a!) and then headed home so Lucas could nap. He woke up around 4, and we decided to go downtown since Mendie’s husband hadn’t had much luck downtown. It’s a little tight on parking and I’m not sure he knew exactly where to go. We did manage to swing by the Asheville Pinball Museum which hasn’t even officially opened yet, but we were able to play. I’ll have more on that in a future post.
We finished the evening with dinner at Asheville Pizza.
These two kept looking at each other and giggling. Future long-distance bffs, for sure.
Finally the kiddos ran around the back yard for a bit before bedtime. They really had a blast.
I think we all had a great time. I wish that it was a little easier mentally (you know, if I hadn’t lost my job and all), but we made do with the time we had and the circumstances. I hope they visit again!!
love mendie! 🙂 and no one can come visit you without having Jesus chicken while they are here 😛
