sickness, more sickness and houseguests
What a week. I need this weekend. Desperately.
And it should be a good one.
We found ourselves taking the baby to the doctor earlier this week, to learn he had an infection. (He most likely picked up the infection at daycare, but wasn’t allowed to go back to daycare until he had been treated for 24 hours. This kept him out from noon on Tuesday until Wednesday at lunchtime.) He started coming down with a cold last weekend, and his little cold then turned full-on blasted cold late Wednesday. So he was kept home on Thursday.
On Thursday, Chloe had a vet appointment. She was due for an appointment, but we moved it up just to be sure she didn’t have anything that she could possibly pass along to humans. She doesn’t. $110 later, we learned that she’s perfectly healthy. (And just to humor myself, Chloe is 12 pounds now, up from 11.4 a year ago. But down from 12.6 two years ago.) Figured since I always tell you the baby’s weight when he goes on doctor’s visits, you should have Chloe’s too!
I’ve also managed to catch a cold – just as the baby was getting sick. So we’ve been pleasant. Last night, I tried the wet sock technique to get rid of my congestion and ohmygosh it worked! (If you want more info, let me know. I’m going to do it one more time to make sure I keep the congestion at bay.)
The best part of this weekend is going to be seeing my family. My grandma is visiting my dad (she lives in Pennsylvania and he’s in Florida.) Well, on Wednesday, my dad asked if she’d like a little road trip. To Asheville. I guess she thought he was a bit confused or kidding, because she had to ask my stepmom if he was serious. She hasn’t met her seventh great-grandchild yet, but will tonight!
So we’re coming off a weekend with guests (my in-laws) and a week of sickness (me and the baby, not the cat) and heading into a weekend of guests (my parents and grandma.)
I need a break just thinking of it all. But it’ll be good, though.
Umm… wet socks? Are you just going to leave us hanging like that? Hope your weekend goes well!
BTW, I found a pair of socks on clearance at Target that I’m going to chop up into faux BabyLegs. š
Okay, I couldn’t wait so I Googled it. Love Google so, so much. But don’t your feet get so cold while you’re laying in bed waiting to fall asleep?
I need to do an entire post on what we’ve done and what’s worked/not worked. My feet were only cold for about a minute. The wool socks warm them right up. š
