We finally had a decent snow. The temperatures also warmed up by the afternoon so the roads weren’t super treacherous and the snow began melting. It was the perfect mix of fun and practicality (we have to go back to work!)

Our neighbors (and Lucas’ friend) called early to see if we were interested in sledding in the field near our house. Of COURSE we were interested! So I quickly dressed Lucas and we walked over to meet them.

You would have thought that all of this fun, sledding, walking would have made for a perfect nap time. I believe all of the adults needed the rest. My child, however, did not sleep.

My child was more interested in eating snow than sledding. Go figure.

After “naptime” he wanted to go back out, so we played in the yard. I bought a child-sized snow shovel a few weeks ago (on clearance) and taught him the art of shoveling the driveway. It’s never too early to learn how to shovel, right?

  1. Um–yeah we got a little snow this week–and lots and lots and lots of it in prior weeks! You sound like you got the perfect amount for just having fun. If course being from NY I want it to be SPRING already!

  2. We got some snow here in Colorado as well. I’m going to get my daughter some snow pants or a snow suit and let her play this weekend (hopefully). She keeps wanting to go outside. Looks like you guys had fun.

  3. We’ve had a lot of snow the past couple of days ourselves and I’m hating it because my toddler can’t go outside like she wants to. I can’t wait for this snow to stop. So over it already!

  4. Yes, we got snow this week! I can’t wait to see the grass again! You have a cute little helper. I should buy one of those shovels to get my kids out there clearing out the driveway too lol

  5. Those are some pretty awesome play-in-the-snow pics. That kind of thing (fun in the snow) is the only thing that keeps me from hating winter. well, almost keeps me from hating winter. 😉

  6. I am not much of a snow fan but I love it for one reason, seeing children having fun it in. My daughter absolutely loves snow so I am glad that we live in NJ where we get quite a bit of it. Your son looks like he had a wonderful time!

  7. Uhm, YES. But you know that already.

Love these pics!!! They’re so cute. Looks like a lot of fun. I just told my husband today I should have looked for a sled at Target for future use (NEXT YEAR) but I forgot. Probably all gone anyway!

    1. I’m going to check Target tomorrow. If they still have sleds, I’ll get one and bring it to you next weekend (assuming you’ll be attending Blogging Concentrated?!?)

  8. Usually here in MI we are covered in snow. While most of the states are, I am fortunate where I am that we only got one or 2 really good dumpings of it. Although, it has been rather cold. I wish I could get out and enjoy it more but the super cold weather bothers my arthritis. Looks like you guys had fun!

  9. It’s snowing right now and were going to get 4-8 inches! We did go sledding a few weekends ago and it was a disaster! The snow was so wet and thick my kids boots kept falling off and they could make it up the hill…like you said us adults needed a nap after lol! These are cute pictures!

  10. We were supposed to but nadda. I am so over winter & their false alarms. either snow or thaw so everything can bloom, dang it. quit being so cold w/nothing to show for it LOL
