I go back to work in a week and we’re finally packing everything we possibly can into my time off. Granted, my leave at this point is unpaid, so all things must be done inexpensively (or free.) But we’re doing them, and it’s exhausting.

Stream of Consciousness - free writing.

This weekend we skipped naptime and went to a movie. I almost fell asleep. The baby did sleep through most of it, which made things so much easier. Lots of yard work has taken place this weekend – between working in my mom’s garden and tending to my own, on top of mowing our yard. (My mom’s yard still needs to be mowed. If you’re my brother and reading this, I apologize if you end up mowing it later this week.)

Saturday I walked over 17,000 steps. My goal is 10,000. I did run 3 miles in the morning, which was surprising to me since I had set out to do between 2 and 2.5 miles.

So I’m getting my running mojo back. Oh, and the husband and I are basically doing clean eating for a couple of weeks to see if that will jumpstart the weight loss. It’s cheaper for us to watch the foods versus trying some new shake or supplement. (And soon the gardens – mine and my mom’s – will be making it even easier!) Two days into cutting out the junk and I can feel the effects of no sugar.

We took our son to see fireworks last night and because of traffic leaving downtown, we didn’t get home until after 10:30. He still woke at his normal 6:30, because the kid is a walking alarm clock. He’s currently napping and I hope he can catch up on some sleep. He really needs his sleep!

I can’t believe it’s been 11 weeks since I went out on maternity leave. Twelve weeks seems so long until you’re at the end of it and having to leave a new baby at home. I’m a little very bummed that time flew. I could use two more months off. I know it’ll be fine once I’m back, but I suspect next week is going to be pretty tough.

How was your weekend?
