Stream of Consciousness – week 35 #SOCWeekend #blogging #freewriting
A conversation from last night:
Me: Maybe we’ll go to the play lodge tomorrow.
L (my 3-year-old): What day will it be?
Me: Saturday.
L: Saturday?! I LOVE Saturday!
Me: I love Saturday too!
I’m fairly certain that he loves Saturday because he was trying to delay bedtime even later. I remember those moments when I was a kid. Coming down the hallway to ask questions. I always saved my questions and important things that needed to be said for late at night – past bedtime. That time when my mom was probably trying to watch her tv shows and relax after a long day at work and taking care of two kids.
My boy is becoming the master manipulator at bedtime. He knows he can get daddy to let him stay up later if books are involved. (Daddy can’t say no to a good book.) He knows I’ll rock him and cuddle with him. He can keep talking to me while we’re rocking, and I’ll eventually forget that Grey’s Anatomy starts in 5 minutes or that I have dishes to do, lunches to prepare and a shower to take before going to bed only to do it all over again the next day.
Saturdays are a favorite of mine. I’m glad that my boy recognizes how fun Saturdays can be.
Want to participate? The rules….
1. Set a timer for five minutes. (Or keep tabs with your computer’s clock.)
2. Write freely. Any topic. Whatever is on your mind. It doesn’t even have to be completely cohesive.
3. Tag on social media with #SOCSaturday or #SOCSunday and link up below. You have all day Saturday and Sunday to join the link up. It closes Monday morning.
4. Click around and give some comment/blog love.
So cute! And let me tell ya, that only continues. Both of our boys do that same thing every night. And they’re so darn cute about it. One day we’ll be happy that we sometimes let bedtime slide just a little. Have a wonderful day today!
i love saturdays too! but for me it meant falling asleep in the 9 (8?) hour watching a movie and being up early for my long run.
Saturdays are great. 🙂 And Sundays can be, too!
I love how kids just instinctually know how to stall at bedtime.
And yet, sometimes we just have the best conversations then.
Linked up again this week. Thank you for the motivation to freely write every weekend. xo
