Since I missed the drum circle (my son’s first visit) last Friday, we decided to venture downtown last night for dinner and drums. The drum circle is so interesting in our city. It’s very organic in how it forms. Drummers new and old are encouraged to join in and people bring various drums to beat. Some people bring hula hoops or juggling objects (what are the objects called that jugglers use? I have no idea.)

It’s a really fun thing to experience.

Except my city appears to be growing and nobody knows how to make things comfortable anymore. Parking was a nightmare. I live 3 miles from downtown and it took over an hour before we decided to go through a drive-thru, order our dinner and head home. Even at that restaurant, where we would have had to eat outside, there were no parking spaces or tables available. There is a car show that happens every Friday night and they were taking up each valuable parking space.

Such is life.

We did come home. We tried to make the most of our evening, and we lucked out with one family photo. Kind of.

Here’s hoping we have better parking luck the rest of the weekend.
