Stream of Consciousness: Lake time – week 50 #SOC #blogging #freewriting
We’re traveling this weekend. We made it a long weekend in Lake Waccamaw and I’m running a little bit slower (literally and figuratively.)
I went for a run Saturday morning. I started before 9 a.m. and it was just a 3-mile run. It was already in the 80s when I started, with 80% humidity. When I finished it was close to 90 degrees and I thought I might throw myself into the 3-foot pool just to cool off. (I didn’t. I showered and then we drove to Wilmington.)
We’ve spent so much time making sure Lucas is occupied, busy and getting energy out. I think he understand the heat and has begged for pool time. This afternoon I spent over an hour swimming with him. We aren’t sticking with the traditional nap time – we went for a car nap today and didn’t fight it when he didn’t sleep longer than the hour.
He’s having a good time, but I can tell he also misses his own bed. He refers to it as his “own house” and “own bed.” (I miss my “own bed” too when I don’t get to sleep there.)
The sun wipes us out, but I’m so glad we’re able to spend so much time outside.
I don’t think we’ll be getting any beach time this weekend, and I’m trying to figure out if we will get to the beach this summer. I am almost coming to terms that it may not happen for our little family. We have a lot going on the next few months.
Ahhhh, summer.
I hope you are finding some time to relax! I can’t believe the heat. Ugh. I would stay in the pool as much as I could too! Enjoy your time and safe travels. š
