I feel like we’re dealing with a newborn – or at least a 15-month-old again. Remember how my kid didn’t sleep through the night for the first 15 months of his life? I’m living that all over again.

My child – almost 4 years old – has been waking every night between 2 and 5 a.m. It doesn’t matter what time he goes to bed. I limit his drinks after 7 p.m., make him use the bathroom before he goes to bed and he still will get up 30 minutes after I leave his room to use the bathroom. But every night he wakes. He normally uses the bathroom as an excuse (but 4 out of 5 times he doesn’t really have to go.)

I’m so tired.

I don’t know if I could handle life with a newborn again. I don’t know how moms of multiple children do this. Especially moms with several young children.

Oy.

I keep thinking this is all a fleeting moment and it’ll pass. I just hope that the middle of the night wake-ups pass soon. Mommy needs a solid night of sleep before she goes crazy.

In other life news, I ran with Carol and Melissa this morning and while it was slow and hot and humid, it was so. much. fun. I miss those girls and I love that Carol wanted to get together for a run while she was in town for a wedding. Nothing like killing two birds with one stone (you know, socializing and exercising.)

That’s been our weekend. Sleeplessness and running. It could be worse…at least the weather is cooler this weekend, right?

Now, tell me about your weekend. And feel free to link up below!

  1. Was last night any better? I hope so. It’s so hard to function when folks aren’t sleeping well in the house. Maybe he’s going through a cognitive developmental shift. Sometimes Case doesn’t sleep well and that’s all I can figure out. Sounds so fun about our run! I’m hoping to run here in a bit since it’s my last day in DC. I love running up here.
