It’s Saturday afternoon and we’ve already packed so much into the weekend. It’s amazing how much Asheville has to offer and what unique things I find so normal.

Stream of Consciousness - free writing.

Last night the husband and I were going to meet downtown. He had our boy, and I was coming from work and we were supposed to talk before meeting to make sure we were on the same page. At 5:45 I was in my driveway and not able to get in touch with him. I heard from him a few minutes later, and was downtown and parked by 6:02. That alone is near impossible in a large city.

We had dinner and then took our drums to the drum circle. (I really need to post more about this at some point.) Our boy loves it, but last night it was 90 degrees, humid and just way too much for him. We stuck it out for about 40 minutes and then left to wander a bit.

This morning my husband had a race to run, so the boy and I were to fend for ourselves. We picked blueberries in my mom’s yard (we’ll be sad when those are gone!) and then headed to Splasheville. Splasheville has been a common theme this past week. We even picnicked there on Monday evening.

I’m glad this is our normal. I love that we’re relatively close to so many places to visit and that places are either free or affordable for passes. (We have annual passes to the Nature Center and Biltmore and we definitely use them frequently!)

I hope our son one day realizes how fortunate we are to live in such a neat place. If only we could get him to expand his horizons when it comes to food. I’d love to order something more adventurous than chicken tenders or pizza.

  1. WHAT?! YES, I need more information on this drum circle ASAP. I love active families and I love how you are exploring and enjoying all you have in your own ‘backyard.’ It is inspirational.
