Stream of Consciousness: Travels. {week 55} #SOC #freewriting #blogging
It has been….a week. My husband traveled at the end of the week, and I had so much work that had tight deadlines. The lack of sleep took me back to my son’s newborn days. The headaches. I had forgotten just how sleep deprivation could hurt.
We’re traveling later this week to see family. My grandma turns 90 soon and there’s a surprise party for her. (Don’t worry. She doesn’t have a computer, much less read my blog.)
Somewhere along the way of planning this trip, I forgot to tell my grandma we were coming to visit. So. When my cousin asked if this was a surprise, I decided to turn into one. I mean, why spoil it now, right? (Also, neglectful granddaughter for the win!)
This trip is causing so much anxiety. Namely with the traveling and packing. True to form, I haven’t taken time off before the trip, and when we leave we’re going to have to leave the house around 6 a.m. to get to Charlotte in time (and in rush hour.) It should be a blast.
It’ll be our boy’s first plane trip. We’ve been talking it up so that he’ll hopefully be excited. He was really upset when he couldn’t fly with my husband on Thursday. He thought we were going to New York RIGHT THEN. Poor kid.
And poor unsuspecting parents. We have no idea what to expect. I will have the iPad charged and ready to go with a few new shows loaded on it. The LeapReader is ready (and I have a new book that will surely keep him entertained. He loves his LeapReader!) What should I prepare for him to have on the plane? Any tips for the airport?
Help me out, parents. Help out the fellow passengers – I think I’m more scared for them, than us.
Yay! Charlotte rush hour bright and early in the morning. Ugh. I would ensure the boy gets a solid night of sleep the night before. Also, maybe get a new toy (something small) and new snack so there is some novelty on the flight. Once you get to NY, I hope you have so much fun. Your grandma is going to be so excited!
I think you are preparing well for the plane. Reading and shows should be good. What fun to have a surprise party!
I have never ever been on a plane so I know I have to prepare myself first then I can get to the kids. I am glad stream of consciousness is back I missed seeing these around the blogsphere
Yay for surprise 90th birthdays! I would bring something for your son to do on the plane during take offs and landings when you can’t use electronics and doesn’t need the tray. Also make sure you have something for ear popping. I always find my daughter does way better traveling than I expect. Have a great trip!
