I head home this evening. I have one more day of a conference and then we’re going to the airport. This has been such a full and fast trip – and mostly fun.

I ran 4.25 miles in the city yesterday. I saw a lot of great monuments. When I got back to my hotel, I headed back to the memorials with my co-worker. Total I got in over 7 miles with running and walking. The balls of my feet have large blisters (mainly from walking. I foolishly wore sandals, not realizing just where we were going to end up.) I hope my boss doesn’t mind me going barefoot on Monday morning.

I think I’ve mentioned it before but I love seeing cities by foot. I can see so much more when I’m out running than if I was driving or on a metro or bus. I have a ton of photos I want to share (and I will. Soon. Sooner than I posted the Color Run, for sure, because I still owe folks a post on that race.)

And on the subject of running, I think I’m getting back into running mode. This summer I’ve run short distances, but not consistently. I’ve been doing more elliptical and weight workouts. I’ve even done several days of the 21 Day Fix workouts (I really love those!) But running has kind of just been on the side.

Since our big travels are done for the summer, I am going to work on getting back into my routine. I really need my routine.

First I need to get home…soon!

  1. The only city I can do by foot is New York and I think it’s because it’s so busy I forget I am walking. I don’t move myself which is why I am overweight. I sit in front of a computer working all day and I have to find motivation to move

  2. Yes, to running routines! I was getting my groove back before the beach trip. While I ran at least 4 times, the runs were shorter distances. I need to run in cities more often. I love running in DC, too. Always run up there when visiting my sis. So glad you are safely home. Hope those feet heal soon!
