Stream of Consciousness: Still all about sleep {week 61} #SOC #blogging #freewriting
We spent yesterday in Blowing Rock, NC. It was an adventure, but my son and I did this adventure on very little (and broken) sleep so it wasn’t the most fun adventure for the three of us. (We did power through and it was a good time.)
Susanna has been talking about lack of sleep on her blog this past week and I feel like I’m echoing all of her sentiments. I haven’t been sleeping enough. I need at least 7-8 hours of decent sleep and I’ve been averaging 5-6 hours. It isn’t pretty.
Last night I couldn’t stay up any longer and I knew our boy would be out of his room by 7 a.m. despite his clock not turning green until 7:15 (indicating it was ok for him to wake.) I went to bed around 10:30, slept until I heard him at 7:05 (he slept late!) and I felt like a new person. More than 8 hours of sleep. Uninterrupted. Glorious, glorious sleep.
This afternoon the boy tried to tell me he had already napped and he wasn’t tired. It took about 3 minutes of patting his back and he was out. Hopefully he’ll stay that way for another hour. We all need – and deserve – to be well-rested.
I’m excited about a day off tomorrow. I feel like we rushed through our summer, my house isn’t in order and I just want to relax.
I may just go to bed by 9 tonight to ensure I get all the rest I need. Our day starts at 7, whether we like it or not. (There comes a time the kid will sleep later, right??)
