Stream of Consciousness: Poor customer service {week 75} #SOC #blogging #freewriting
I’m having the toughest time this holiday season finding the perfect gifts in person (one, I don’t have the time to really get out and shop. Two, I’m either not finding the items or I’m finding the worst prices ever.)
I’ve searched high and low for a particular Paw Patrol toy, only to find the toy sold out in stores and the prices doubled – and in some cases more than tripled – the amount it would normally be sold in stores. Then I found the toy in Kmart (after I purchased it for an outlandish price on Amazon.) But in order to return it to Amazon I have to pay more money. And this is all after watching the seller I bought from change his price 3 times within 40 minutes last Monday night.
More than two weeks ago, I purchased two things – one from Gap. One from Kohl’s. I haven’t received either package. My coat from Kohl’s should have arrived yesterday and now it’s showing no delivery date has been set. I chatted with a customer service rep last night about my missing order and this is the solution:
Best suggest is for you to wait until tomorrow for the package, and if you haven’t received it still until tomorrow, just contact us back and we will create a mis-ship case so that you will receive a full refund of the item.
When I said I don’t want credit, I need the actual coat (hello, winter is almost here.) I received this:
Thank you very much Jaime for being with Kohl’s family even in times like this. I do understand how you feel because I am also a customer. I hope that nothing will change because we cannot afford to lose a such valuable customer like you.
Guess what? I won’t be shopping online with them again. Also? The package didn’t come today and via Twitter they told me because of the holidays, I should expect delays.
That order with Gap? When I called on Thursday, the rep told me that because I selected free shipping, and I purchased after Cyber Monday, my order could potentially take until December 28 to be delivered. She then said December 18. This was my second order within a week, and the first order didn’t take that long to ship. It took less than a week. But she placed the blame on me, for choosing the free shipping.
Within minutes of that call ending, my order shipped. Granted, it shows a delivery date of 12/18, but it shipped.
I’ve ordered from several other online outlets this past month, and I’ve had shipping problems galore. (I haven’t even posted about the USPS issues I had – the time our mail person threatened my husband, and then started the process to return my package to the midwest.)
I’m striking out with online shopping. And this post has definitely taken longer than my allotted 5 minutes, but online shopping has me angry and it’s good to vent.
Beware, fellow shoppers. Kohl’s and Gap are out to get us – at least me.
I like a lot of things about online shopping, but shipping is not one of them! Still hoping they modernize the delivery system, which I don’t think is really built to keep pace with new realities.
Grrrrr! Things like this are so frustrating. The panic of possibly not getting a gift in time is so stressful. I ordered some things from Toys R Us weeks ago and still haven’t gotten them. So I’m feeling panicky too. Sigh…it’s stuff like this that allows me to welcome January with open arms.
how frustrating! i limit most of my online shopping to amazon. typically returns are hassle free. assuming they are the seller.
