Like learning to ride a bike {week 77} #SOC #blogging #freewriting
Our boy received his first big boy bike for Christmas. He hasn’t shown much interest in a bike, which is why we didn’t get him one sooner. He didn’t ask for one for Christmas, and when we mentioned it to him he was adamant that he didn’t want one.
His reaction on Christmas morning was “My bike! I have a big bike!” He was very excited.
When the present-opening excitement wore down and the rain let up, we went outside to see just how fun this bike was going to be. And it was a total fail. We failed to adjust the training wheels so he could even use the bike. And our street is so hilly.
Basically, learning to ride a bike is tough, y’all.
This morning it took some major convincing to get him to go up to my mom’s street to ride his bike. By nap time, Lucas was totally getting it. He still has a ways to go, but he’s learning and he hasn’t totally given up.
After nap, we met up with some neighborhood friends and he rode his bike for close to 2 hours. He’s really getting it!
He’s even excited about riding again tomorrow. Learning to ride a bike is tougher than I ever remember, but it’s so fun to see everything clicking for him. And when we added a bell to his bike this evening, he was even more excited (if that’s possible) to ride again tomorrow. I’m hoping my ears can handle the excessive ringing. 😉
So fun!! We’ll be doing the same thing with our boys. Brooks loves riding bikes and he got a new one this year, so we can’t wait to get out with him this afternoon and ride.
How much fun!! It’s pretty awesome the weather was so nice for him to ride it!!
