Party time and rest. #SOC #freewriting #blogging

We’re fortunate enough to have been invited to three parties this weekend – which excites my son to no end. My husband’s colleagues had a small “holiday” party Friday night (after the holidays, so most everyone could attend) and we stayed there way past our boy’s bedtime. There were several other kids (elementary and middle-school aged) that loved playing with him, so it was fairly stress-free on our part.

The worst part was leaving, because our son is a party animal and he hates to see a good party come to an end.

Yesterday we had a birthday party to attend for a boy in his preschool class. It was a Paw Patrol theme, and I always worry about my son ruining the singing of “happy birthday”, since he’s known for screaming through it. He’s come such a long way since last summer, though, and not only sang with everyone, but cheered LOUDLY when the boy blew out his candles. He was a little better about leaving – no tears, at least.

Tonight we’re attending a friend’s Super Bowl party. We may drive separately, so we’re not straying from bedtime too much. We’ll see. I’m sure there will be tears when we leave the party early.

In between all of the partying, I’ve been trying to rest and get errands taken care of (that snowstorm a few weeks ago really caught me off-guard in terms of getting things done!) Our area’s big consignment sale is next weekend, but all of the items had to be put into the system by last night, so I’ve been taking care of that. This is the first year I have a good amount of items to consign. (Even better, I’ve found a few friends who can use some of the clothes I can’t consign since they’re a different season, or there’s a limit on the number of items in certain sizes.) Call it whatever you want – nesting, purging, …. – I’m just so happy to be getting rid of items.
