Intentional friendship {week 99} #SOC #blogging #friendship
I must say….my cup runneth over with long distance friends reconnecting lately.
A few weeks ago, a friend posted something on Facebook and part of her post has stuck with me. She said that friendship is intentional not circumstantial.
Isn’t that the truth?
Two weeks ago I received a text from a friend from college. She was on the east coast for a wedding and was thinking of stopping in Asheville before driving home to Texas. I haven’t seen her since 2004. We communicate through Facebook and Christmas cards. And we met up 36 hours after her text to me. (Also, thankfully I haven’t changed my cell number since I got my first cell phone in college.)
This week, I received an email from a longtime friend/former boss from a job I had briefly in college (and my internship.) Our families got together for lunch today (his family is in town from Florida for two days. Such a quick trip.) And this evening, a friend from middle/high school came over with her daughter.
All of these visits were somewhat short, but each one felt like no time had passed.
Each connection made me think of what my friend posted. Intentional friendship is good for the soul.
Old friends are the best! Later this summer one of my oldest friends (we went to pre-school together) is coming to visit and I’m so excited!
