someone turned one! (the highlights)

We celebrated a birthday almost two weeks ago! I know. I’ve been slow in posting these photos! (In my defense, I did post them on Facebook, and we’ve been dealing with colds and teeth the past two weeks.)

I started off with a red/yellow theme and settled for a few sock monkeys in there. I didn’t want to go sock monkey overkill, and I think we had just enough. (Photos to come with all of the decorations.) I ended up making a wreath (red and yellow), a happy birthday banner, a photo wall with the monthly photos, sock monkey water bottle (labels) and the favor bags (tags were stamped with sock monkeys.) 

We had family over on Friday night (the actual birthday) and celebrated with dinner and presents.

My mom bought him a toy set that included a wooden mallet. what the…what??

The next day, we partied with friends and family. We had about 35 people over. It was a lot.

There were a lot of presents (that dad opened and showed Lucas.) 


There was cake (that my mom made). Lucas was not impressed….


…at first. And then he grew to really like it.


He also liked to feed me the cake.

After we were cleaned up, he played a bit with Noah before our guests left.


And even later – after naptime! – we did an impromptu photo shoot in the back yard.
