sometimes we’re a little crazy

I’ve been updating my photo blog. A lot of the pictures have come from my cell phone, and I need to pull my camera downstairs to upload the rest. I don’t know how I’ve been able to maintain a photo a day for the past two years, but I have. (The past few months have been easy. I take multiple photos of Lucas every day.)

We’ve hosted two holiday parties in the past two weeks. Last night, I needed a serious reality check. We had over a dozen people (all neighbors) and I not only made a vegetable beef stew, but I also made an apple pie – and cut out the crust in the shapes of snowflakes. And we cleaned the house, the husband made a pumpkin pie, and the baby was well taken care of.

The party must have been fun because Lucas then slept for 8 hours straight. I had to wake him up just after 6 this morning to eat. (We had things to do today, and I wanted to be sure his schedule was aligned with our outings – which it was.)

But now we’re all beginning to feel a bit sick. The baby is a little congested, I seemed to have picked up a cough along the way and the husband sat next to a woman this evening at a work function who claimed she didn’t have a cold, but had bronchitis. And she coughed for two hours straight. (if he doesn’t get sick, it will be a Christmas miracle.)

I’m not sure how we’ve managed to do everything we’ve done the past few months, but we’re surviving. Our friends who have an 8-month-old were shocked to see the invite in their email inbox a few weeks ago for last night’s party. I think they came just to see that we really were brave enough to host people…because they haven’t braved it yet. šŸ™‚

We’re already planning our Oscars party. That, my friends, may be the dumb thing we do in 2012. I think we may have to scale it back and only invite people who we know will leave early. And keep everyone downstairs.

It’s exhausting just thinking about it.
