I scheduled to take last Monday off. It was the day after Bele Chere ended, Kenny’s birthday and just seemed like a good day to take off. I also have four weeks of vacation to take this year. I haven’t even used half of it. So, I scheduled myself off and ended up working half of the day. So not cool. By Friday, I had even worked overtime and my “day off” was pointless.
By my ninth or tenth hour on Friday, I figured I *really* needed some time before school starts up. I officially have tomorrow off – I’m not even working from home. No C-T work, no freelancing, nothing. Just me, the husband and the apartment – and the Wii 🙂
So how about a recap of the past week or so?
Last week was busy at work. I vowed not to complain as much – I need to have a more positive outlook. It worked, right up until Friday night when I was working overtime to complete a special section that went live on Sunday. And, the positive outlook thing has worked. I don’t feel as stressed at the office, or at home.
This past weekend was tax-free weekend on back-to-school supplies, clothes and such. We went to Boone and Blowing Rock. Kenny really wanted to go to Boone to check out ASU (he graduated from ASU before they beat Michigan last year!) We hit up the outlet mall on our way out and I got several great deals. I even bought two dresses – one for a wedding we’re going to next month, and one just because it looked good on me. I have no idea when I’ll wear that one.
I have three pages semi-complete for our wedding scrapbook. It’s coming together. I just received my new stamps this weekend, so I’m anxious to really put them to work.
My cake decorating class was cancelled due to lack of interest. They’re doing it again next month, but it’s going to be on Wednesday, and I have a few Wednesdays already booked. I got my money back today and am going to work out of my mom’s level 1 book. I may sign up for Level 2 next month. I’m pretty smart. I should be able to handle it.
We met with a bank yesterday to go over our options for a mortgage loan. We’re not as screwed as we once thought we were! So, we may be looking at homes very soon…before Christmas. A new home would, in fact, be the best gift ever. Other than keeping my brother stateside in November, a house would rock.
Kenny is taking advantage of his last few free days before the teacher work days begin. I have the place to myself tonight. It’s kind of nice. Very quiet….
Elite Racing just announced a new race. They organize the Country Music Marathon, Virginia Beach Half Marathon and many others – those are just two that I’ve run 🙂 They’re newest race is Seattle. How much do I want to run the inaugural marathon?!?!? And, Kenny has always wanted to go to Seattle. I just now have to figure out how to convince him we MUST go.
There you have it. It’s been busy, but fun. We have lots coming up too – a trip to Lake Waccamaw, possible trip to Augusta, a trip (for me) to the beach with my mom, a visit from my brother and a (possible) visit from some other family members. On top of those trips and visits, we have several great concerts to look forward to soon.
I’ll keep you posted!
