still (barely) here
We’re still here…albeit, a little (lot) sleep deprived.
We’re adjusting to being home, and Kenny had to go back to work yesterday. Wednesday night proved to be a challenge since Lucas had a little ‘procedure’ done that wasn’t done in the hospital since we came home a day earlier than anticipated. He didn’t sleep at all that night – and decided to show me at 3 a.m. just how alert he could be (which is pretty darn cute, but would have been WAY cuter at 3 p.m.!)
The kid eats non-stop. Pretty sure he’s going through a growth spurt, and this will pass, but ohmygosh. Non. Stop. Eating. Today I was finally able to sleep when he slept – but not until 2:30 p.m. I think we’re going to be halting visits from friends for a few days. It screws him up when he’s eating or sleeping and it can take hours to get him back to sleep.
So I’m not totally complaining in this post, I just have to say that I couldn’t imagine life without him now. He’s pretty amazing and he’s becoming more alert all around. He’s starting to go to his dad more (because, really, he just wants the food provider 90% of the day) and it’s fun to watch them and listen to them read books together (they’ve been reading since day 1.) Lucas loves to look at himself in the mirror, as long as he isn’t worked up over being changed. And we think he’s starting to notice shapes in the background (he stares at the wall with the decals a lot.) Lucas loves his walks with his dad, and I can’t wait until next week when I can join them. I’m dying to get out of the house, and I think Lucas agrees.
Also? There will be no 5k for me next weekend. We made that decision in the operating room last week. š I’ll just be happy to attend the race (with the baby in the Moby wrap – safe from touching strangers) and watch people at the start and finish.
And now for photos….
Here, he obviously just ate:

And one of my favorites from last week:
I adore that last picture. So precious! Hang in there momma I feel like I was where you are yesterday…it is mentally and physically draining! So glad you will be able to join them for walks next week that will help tons to make you feel more human and less shut in cow like. Lol maybe that was just me.
He is way cute. That last photo is too cute!
He is beyond cute! Hang in there, you will all work out a schedule. Just make sure to rest when you can.
LOVE my Moby wrap! Just got it last week and I walked around Barnes & Noble with my little one wrapped in it today. No strangers dare invade my space to touch her!
Just love the pictures!!! The last one is definately my favorite!
what a cutie!! š sorry about the 5K, but i’m sure he’s worth it. for you. totally haven’t changed my mind š
Oh my!! He is just precious!! š
