2014 Summer Bucket List (revised)
So my 2014 Summer Bucket List? Yeah, that needed a revise. I wanted to add a few things, and since this is my space, I figure I’m entitled. (I didn’t remove anything. I just added 7 more items.)
1. Get to Splasheville as often as possible. We havenāt been at all this year (even though it has only been reopened for a month or so.)
2. Go camping. We have all of the gear necessary for camping, but weāve NEVER BEEN! My sister recently bought an RV and some rv insurance and she goes out in it all the time. She loves it! I registered (unbeknownst to my fiance at the time) for camping gear. And said-fianceās co-workers bought every item on our registry. That was 7 years ago. And the husband is really pushing to go camping this summer. (Done!)
3. Zoo trip! Weāve taken the toddler to a couple of zoos, but never the NC Zoo. Weāre actually planning to go in a couple of weeks. (Updated: We visited the NC Zoo a couple weekends ago!)
4. Beach trip. This is also on the books! (Another true story. Weāve never been on a vacation as just the three of us. We almost always head to a family memberās home, or are traveling with family.)
5. I want to read 3 books. That sounds like nothing to many of my friends, but I have more than 3 books sitting on my nightstand. (I’ve started two. I’ve completed one. I’m well on my way!)
6. I want to run a 5k with the toddler (in his stroller, obviously.) The 5k I thought was family-friendly actually doesnāt allow strollers, so now Iām on the hunt for a different race.
7. A āyesā day. A day in which I donāt argue with the toddler and we just do whatever he wants. This means I should probably clean out his sandbox soon (because Iāve been telling him for months he canāt play in that mess.)
8. Run on the beach.
9. Run a couple of shorter races.
10. More play dates with our parent friends. We rarely do this. It’s not fair to our son (or to us!)
11. Fabulous birthday party for my husband. (It’s going to happen. Plans are in the works.)
12. Take a sunrise photo. Preferably while standing by or in the ocean.
13. Take a sunset photo. Same as above. Would love to get a perfect shot at the beach.
14. Reinstate my chick-flick club. That was a fun group. We haven’t really gotten together since several of us had babies.
What’s on your must-do list this summer?
That is quite a list. I have never seen a race where strollers were not allowed. Even when they say they are not, I contact them and they just say to stay to the rear of the runners and it would be fine. Of course I am sure that does not apply to the trails I run though- a stroller would not be fun for that. Good luck on reaching all of your goals, you have a lot of fun ones planned so I hope you make it. We do a yes day for our kids once a month, it is a lot of fun to see the world through their eyes – except maybe our teenager – I do not want to see everything he wants to do as he wants to explore caves and do the zip lines – I am not that brae yet.
Glad to see you did some and went to the zoo.Our summer bucket list is on hold while my kiddies spend a couple of weeks with their grandparents.
You’d better get crackin’ š you have a lot to do, mama! It sounds like you have a wonderful summer planned for you and your family!
your bucket list has me packing my bags to get ready for that yes day and the hubby’s partay!!!
seems like you are well on your way for a fabulous summer and checking things off your list š
Sounds like a great bucket list to me!
My mid summer bucket list is to realize that the end of summer is too darn near!!!! My girls are at VBS this week so next week our plan is to use our Groupons!
I really want to go camping in the back yard.
Love your bucket list. I too want to go camping but my Hubs is not on the same page as I am. I am going to talk him into it if it is the last thing I do.
Sunrise photos are my favorite! It’s rare for me since we get to see sunsets over the water since we are on the west coast of FL. I Can see sunrises over the water on the east coast! So, it’s a rare treat!
The summer I want to take my girls out as much as I can and teach them how to hit a baseball. We are not really into sports so this will be fun for us all.
I haven’t been camping in years but I have fond memories of doing so years ago when I visited my grandparents over the Summer. Those were really good times.

You’re doing pretty darn well on your summer list already! Mine was to visit both of my kids which I’ve done so the rest of the summer can be whatever it is!
Love your summer bucket list. I’m going to have to pick up on some of those ideas.
Your summer looks amazing so far! What awesome memories!
Great bucket list. I didn’t do one this summer but I have one all planned out for winter. Love that photo of your little one with his smores. š
Camping is on my list this year. I say I’m going every year, then never get around to it. My son really wants to go.
Running a 5k with a toddler. Wow. I love it! I can walk fast and far but never ran a marathon. I need to start conditioning my body for it. Thank you for the inspiration.
I love this list!! what a fun summer!! I see a lot on there that once you try it, you will wonder what took you so long š
