Thanks to Palmer Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of Roswell, Georgia for collaborating on this post! As always, opinions are my own.
School is almost out for us! I know many of my parent friends have started their summer breaks, which means vacation is upon most of us. For many, road trips are on the horizon, and with these simple summer car care tips, you can get on the road sooner and (hopefully) hassle-free!
Check your tires. Whether you’re checking the air or the tread, it’s important to stay on top of the condition of your tires before a road trip. Get any leaks taken care of, and consider the last time you had your tires rotated and balanced.
Oil change. I get my oil changed on time – always. It’s a good habit to have, but it also helps your car so much. If you’re due for an oil change mid-trip, go ahead and get it taken care of before your trip. Or plot out where you might get it changed in your destination city. We had to do this on one of our trips from NC to NY and it was helpful to know what was in the area.
While you’re getting your oil changed, get all other fluids topped off. My normal mechanic does this automatically, but double check that your mechanic will also take care of this for you.
Check your battery. You can do this at an auto parts store, or wherever you might get your oil changed! You definitely don’t want to be stranded somewhere with a dead battery you could have changed before the trip.
Get your air filters checked out and changed out, if necessary. I hate having to pay for air filters to be changed, so I don’t do it with every oil change. However, if I know I’ll be spending a lot of time in my car for a longer trip, I’ll go ahead and add it to my oil change. You could also do this yourself, if you know a little about what’s under the hood of your car.
Since we’re discussing summer ready cars – is your air conditioning up to par? If not, you may want to get it serviced.
It’s been a few years since we visited Atlanta, but that is one city we’re considering for this summer. If we have car trouble in that area, I know I can look to Palmer Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of Roswell, Georgia to help us out when we’re in the area. Not only do they carry quality Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler vehicles, but they also offer six days of hours in their service department.
