Sunday downtime

Our plans kept changing this weekend. I think I’m more scheduled than many people (it’s hard to be super spontaneous when your 4-year-old is on a schedule 5 days a week.) So when breakfast plans were changed before 8:30, I knew I kind of had to let go.

My little family ended up at the River Arts District Studio Stroll for a few hours, even having lunch down in RAD, which was great. I strapped Lucas into his stroller (it’s a lot of walking, a lot of artwork and a lot of potential breakage if he’s running around) and gave him the iPad to entertain him while we checked out local artist studios.

Lunch was at FRESH West (pizza place) and Lucas chose for us to sit outside. It was chilly but worth it. Soon after we sat down, a train went by and he rarely gets to see trains this close. We actually saw two trains today which was excellent for him.

After supporting a couple of our local artists (yay for cool pieces we got to bring home!) and making a purchase at a local running store, we called it a day.

Sometimes plans change and we require some downtime as a family. I don’t always like it. (In fact, I kind of hate the constant changing of plans and we wonder where my son gets it from…) But it doesn’t always turn out so bad.

The next studio stroll is in May. We’ll have to see if we can make it with the boy and a newborn. 😉
