I made salsa for the first time last weekend. It was easy (as in, why hadn’t I made this before?) and it took maybe 15 minutes to chop everything? Maybe.
I called my mom and asked her what I needed, when I was in the grocery store. I had to pick up the onion, pepper, cilantro and lime. I had tomatoes to use before they went too bad and I had my first jalapeno to pick. (I have many more now. There will probably be more salsa in our future.)
My husband liked this, and I loved it. It definitely has a kick. I used the entire jalapeno. Thankfully I didn’t use two!
Some of my ingredients:
And since it was a success, I thought I’d share my super easy, fast salsa recipe with you!
- ½ cup of green bell pepper (this is approximately ½ of a pepper.)
- 2-3 tomatoes, diced. (I used one large, one medium from my garden.)
- 1 cup white onion, chopped
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
- 1 jalapeno
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- Juice of one lime
- Chop or dice your tomatoes, bell pepper, onion, jalapeno, garlic and cilantro. Mix in a medium-sized bowl. Add salt and pepper. Squeeze the juice of the lime over the chopped mixture. Mix well. Enjoy!
Are you a salsa fan? Do you prefer mild, medium or hot?
