Super easy, very fast salsa recipe
I made salsa for the first time last weekend. It was easy (as in, why hadn’t I made this before?) and it took maybe 15 minutes to chop everything? Maybe.
I called my mom and asked her what I needed, when I was in the grocery store. I had to pick up the onion, pepper, cilantro and lime. I had tomatoes to use before they went too bad and I had my first jalapeno to pick. (I have many more now. There will probably be more salsa in our future.)
My husband liked this, and I loved it. It definitely has a kick. I used the entire jalapeno. Thankfully I didn’t use two!
Some of my ingredients:
And since it was a success, I thought I’d share my super easy, fast salsa recipe with you!
Weekend Salsa
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of green bell pepper (this is approximately 1/2 of a pepper.)
- 2-3 tomatoes, diced. (I used one large, one medium from my garden.)
- 1 cup white onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 jalapeno
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- Juice of one lime
Instructions
Chop or dice your tomatoes, bell pepper, onion, jalapeno, garlic and cilantro. Mix in a medium-sized bowl. Add salt and pepper. Squeeze the juice of the lime over the chopped mixture. Mix well. Enjoy!
Are you a salsa fan? Do you prefer mild, medium or hot?
This is an easy recipe and it looks like it is packed with flavor. I think it will be a big hit at the next family dinner or outdoor event.
That sounds DELICIOUS!! I love how easy it is to make!
This is very similar to the salsa that I use and I make it every few days. We go through salsa like crazy but it is such a great way to add flavor to many foods.
This looks so great and I love the option of making it out of my own garden stuff! Sounds like a great night for nachos, salsa and margarita’s! Thanks for the tip I pinned it to FOOD-Appetizers, sauces and mixes.
I’ve never made it before either, but there is something about homemade salsa that is just so good.
I love salsa, and I especially love fast and easy!
I love this recipe. The kids love when I just blend it all up because they don’t like chunky salsa. My little one loves spicy salsa. She’s brave. Obviously nothing like me LOL š
I prefer VERY MILD salsa but the rest of my family likes it HOT! So sadly I just watch.
This looks really tasty and simple.I will love to try this one of these lovely summer days.
I love making my own salsa – the fresh cilantro is key.
love homemade salsa!! my dad does it the lazy way and just throws it all into a food processor. but i get it in a jar with no work on my part so i don’t complain š
Your dad is super smart! I wanted to save on having to drag out the food processor and then wash all of the parts. š (In the end, I loved the chunky salsa.)
Those tomatoes look gigantic and beautiful! Tomatoes are kind of my favorite so this entire post was up my alley. I love fresh salsa.
Holy moly I think I have everything to make this and it sound delicious!
I love salsa, I just made some fresh garden salsa this weekend also.
We love fresh homemade salsa. this recipe sounds like one we would enjoy a lot.
This will sound terrible but I never even thought about making my own salsa. I use it in Gumbos so it would be great to have a fresh homemade batch to add. Thanks for the tip.
That salsa looks amazing. I would love to try it.
I just love salsa and hubby makes a really great one. I’ll have to give him your recipe and see if he can do this one instead and give it a try. Thanks for sharing it.
I love salsa, but have never made my own. I think I prefer a mild salsa because my body can’t really handle spicy foods much anymore.
Now I want salsa and chips! That looks so yummy right now š
Oh I love salsa mild! It’s one of the things I really really miss since starting my AIP diet. Hopefully I will get to eat it again one day soon!
Salsa any time of year is great, but I especially love it in the summer when all the veggies are local and fresh. Yum!
That looks SO GOOD! I wish I would have read this yesterday – I would have made this instead of purchasing a jar for my hubby at the grocery store LOL
I love fresh salsa! It’s so much better when it’s fresh from the garden.
That’s nice and light looking. I love salsa, but it’s especially appealing in the summer for some reason.
You had me at quick and easy. I love Salsa…the hotter the better! š
This recipe seems quite easy so I might give it a go. My mother and brother love salsa!
We love making our own salsa! We have to make 2 different batches though since I like mild and my husband likes super hot.
homemade salsa is THE BEST!! I like mine medium to hot but not so hot it burns š
What a great salsa recipe! I absolutely love salsa, we have a restaurant we have been going to for years and my spouse yells at me to just use a spoon instead of a tiny piece of chip (you know, to keep it low carb!). And I love cilantro!
thanks,
