super-wife

My husband’s been out of town since Thursday. Not something I’ve talked about much on Facebook or Twitter, but it feels like he’s been gone for a week. I’ve managed to not burn down the house (which could have happened – I accidentally left the oven on this evening, and discovered it 2 hours later. oops.) Most of the house is relatively clean and I may just wash clothes tomorrow.

Speaking of laundry….On Wednesday, he gave me permission to buy a washing machine without his ever seeing it. I love shopping, and I love Lowes – especially when using a Lowes Gift Card – so the fact that I got to purchase a large appliance was kind of a party for me. (This also proves that he trusts my decision-making skills.) I got a pretty sweet washer with a pretty considerable discount, and after a horrendous wait today, it was finally installed around 6:30 p.m. (And before it could be installed, the garage had to be cleaned. I tidied it up all on my own.)

In between my fun trips to Lowes, I also managed to get tires changed on his car. The tires were ordered 2 weeks ago, but we were never called when they came in. By the time we realized they were here, he was heading out of town. Again, I felt like a rock star for getting the task done on my lunch hour yesterday.

Today I planned our menu for next week and did the grocery shopping (before my epic wait for Lowes to arrive.) This evening, I purchased strawberry plants and some seeds for the garden. I’m ready to grow our garden this spring and summer! I even found some stuff to grow for Chloe. (And as a side note, I’m totally planning on making baby food when the time comes.)

I’ve gotten several big things done this weekend – and now I’m coming down with a cold. I’m wondering just how much longer I can keep my “super wife” title. I’m afraid I’m going to be wimping out by tomorrow….just in time for Kenny to come home and take care of me. I think I deserve it at this point.
