Sweet Sophie crossed over the rainbow bridge this weekend.

Sophie was headed to the animal shelter more than 14 years ago when a guy stopped by the pool where my brother was working. My mom and I happened to be spending the day at the pool and I remember my mom saying we would take Sophie “until we found a home for her.” Sophie had found her home.

Sophie loved walks, but at her own pace. She enjoyed running for short distances and she really did prefer to stop and smell the roses. She liked herding people and Oliver (our family dog who passed in 2010.) She preferred not to get her feet dirty or wet. She just wasn’t a dirty dog. She was a pretty lady dog. šŸ™‚

Sophie chewed everything in those early years. Even drywall. She loved chewing the corners in my mom’s dining room, and she chewed holes in the wall behind my brother’s bed more than once. She was trouble – and so cute.

She wasn’t a huge fan of Lucas when he was born, but she learned to love him….especially when he figured out where the treats were and could dole those out.

When Lilah was born, Sophie REALLY didn’t know what was going on, but she grew to love her (and vice versa.) Sophie would stand outside the bedroom door while Lilah was sleeping, waiting for my mom to open the door so she could see her baby.

She barked at men she didn’t know, and any person wearing a hat. She loved squeaker toys. I think she received several toys about 2 years ago for Christmas that had more than a dozen squeakers in them. She’d tear them out so fast

She is going to be missed immensely.
