Thankful. {2017}
It’s been a good day. I spent very little time online (shocker!), a good amount of time outside between running and hiking with the family, and I even got a nap in this afternoon. Totally unexpected. Oh, and I baked a pie this morning!
Early on in our day, we realized we had to get the kids out of the house. They were going nuts, and just sending them to play in the leaves in our yard was not going to be enough. We drove to a trail and disc golf course near our house, and did a pretty short hike. We spent a little time letting the boys practice their disc golf game, and then came home for lunch. (Our Thanksgiving dinner wasn’t until 5:00.) I had worked on cleaning part of our downstairs room earlier this week, and told my son he could watch a movie during his quiet time – totally hoping he would grab a blanket and fall asleep. You guys. IT TOTALLY WORKED. I went in to give something to my husband, not realizing my husband was upstairs, and found our son in a deep sleep! He napped for about 2 hours.
I’m fortunate to live near my mom and my grandma and aunt, so our family dinners are simple to get to. For holidays, I’m usually tasked with bringing cranberry relish and this year my husband wanted to bring an apple pie. I broke out my pie crust cutters (which don’t get used much these days) and made a pie this morning. I was just too tired last night to worry about it. It ended up a little darker than I’d like around the edges, but my oven must have gotten hotter than I had set it – it has a tendency to do that.
I don’t think I bought anything online today, and I have no plans to venture into stores tomorrow (except maybe the grocery store.) I may do a little online shopping tomorrow or Monday. We shall see!
I’m thankful for family, friends and all of the goodness in my life. I really can’t complain much right now. Things are good. I love this holiday because there’s so little pressure.
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
What a beautiful pie! I should have spent my Thanksgiving the way you did – being active and productive. I just couldn’t make myself. I worked last night and figured that would be enough activity for me, LOL!
Well this sounds like a pretty darn good holiday, if you ask me. Especially getting in a nap!
