Thanksgiving morning

What a morning. It’s only 10:25, and we’ve had a pretty good morning.

We ran our “Turkey Trot” 5k this morning. Kenny mapped out the route last night, and we set out on our run this morning. He wasn’t so willing to run:

We finished in about half an hour. We weren’t racing, and I can’t find my running watch. I thought I had packed it. Maybe not. My goal was to at least run a little so I don’t feel so guilty for eating so much food later today.

I showered and as I was pouring lotion in my hands, my cell phone rang. It wasn’t a number that I recognized, and I almost didn’t answer. Glad I didn’t worry about getting lotion on my phone. It was Jason. He sounds good. He tried calling family in NY (aunt Linda, if you read this…please be sure to answer your phone today!) but he got an answering machine. Hopefully he can get everyone later.

His Thanksgiving has sounded a little busy, too. Between work shifts, he’s been able to eat a great meal which was accompanied by ice sculptures, a bread sculpture and a butter sculpture in the shape of Paul Revere. I don’t expect any butter sculptures at my dinner later….

I’m thankful for the sponsor who is paying for the soldier’s phone calls home today. They rock. I’m also somewhat thankful (in a very selfish way) that Jason didn’t get in touch with the NY family, and he called me.

We’re heading back to Asheville after dinner today.

Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving 🙂

  1. Hi Jaime: It was good to talk to you this evening. Jason reached our house this morning about 10:10AM and we all got to talk with him. The VFW was paying for all calls out of Iraq today. Good luck with the coming week! Love Aunt Linda and your NY/PA family.
