This is five.
Five years ago, my husband and I checked into the hospital knowing we’d become parents soon. Fourteen hours later, our boy came into the world with ‘Thriller’ playing in the operating room.
It’s kind of fitting for his personality.
Our boy is strong-willed, smart (OH SO SMART!), funny, kind and imaginative. He can be so sweet and he loves his friends. This year he became a big brother and he just loves his sister. He thinks she’s cute and he loves listening to her make sweet noises. He’s growing up very quickly.
He loves Star Wars, super heroes and Disney Junior. He can read! He can count well past 100. He remembers everything. He loves games and puzzles, and he loves “winning” whether that’s in a board game or running. He’s competitive.
We did not start him in Kindergarten this year, giving him an extra year to grow socially. It’s going to be a good year for him and we know he’ll excel in school next year. His preschool teachers think the world of him.
Tonight we’ll celebrate him with cookies (he decided not to have cake or cupcakes on his actual birthday.) I’m hoping he has a fantastic day at school. When I asked him about being 5 this morning, he replied, “I don’t feel like I’m 5.”
