I normally love fall. I love the changing of the leaves and many of my favorite events happen in the fall. My birthday, anniversary, birthdays of several of my family members and close friends happen between September and November. I’ve always loved attending Homecoming for my alma mater (I’m not as in love with planning Homecoming, but attending is a lot of fun!)

My son loves jumping in piles of leaves. And I normally don’t mind removing the tons of leaves from our yard.

This fall I’m reminded that it’s not always fun. It has rained so many weekends that bagging leaves is tough and mulching is nearly impossible. I technically shouldn’t be mowing and bagging the leaves, but our yard is impossible!

Today it’s chilly and I’m reminded of just how cold it can (and will!) still get over the next couple of months.

And I wonder if it’s fall that I’m not in love with, but maybe November? It’s so gray and chilly and rainy. It isn’t a pretty month.

I’m ready to fall back in love with fall. Maybe once we get the leaves off the ground, in bags and on the curb that can happen. For now, I’ll just be a little angry with it.

  1. Fall is my favorite season, but this rain is annoying. I like the chill, but I’m not getting outside enough and the lack of sunlight is making me grumpy. Fall isn’t supposed to be so dark!!

    1. The gray-ness of November is driving me insane. And the darkness before I get home from work. Last night, L wanted to go out and play at 5:30…but it was too dark. šŸ™
