This whole shopping-for-a-toddler-Christmas thing is still new to me. Let’s be honest. I know what my boy needs. I don’t necessarily know what he would want – or what is going to keep his attention for more than five minutes at a time. Gone are the days I could give him an empty box and paper and he’d be happy. (In fact, try to get him to color and he will revolt – he’d rather use those crayons on the couch or to color the windowsill.) I’ve come up with a few toys that are perfect for him. A few are things we already have (so I highly recommend!) and a few are things I know my boy would L-O-V-E.
From the top left, clockwise.
Leap Frog dvds. We have two of the three dvds from this set and they are a HIT.
Melissa & Doug train set. I bought this on zulily when my boy was very tiny and gave it to him last year. He has more recently really gotten into it, and it’s great because he can play with it as the train, blocks or a puzzle. It’s also helping him with his colors.
V-Tech train station set. We have some of the Go! Go! cars and they’re really fun. Lately he has been into trains and dinosaurs. This set looks like it could bring a good amount of entertainment!
Leap Frog guitar (or any instrument, really.) My boy has a trumpet made by Baby Genius (I can’t find it online for sale right now) and I would love to get him the guitar from the same set, but it is also missing in the land of the internet.
Pop-up tunnel. I got this idea after watching the kids’ obsession with the tunnel at Little Gym. (I didn’t see one child who couldn’t resist the tunnel.) It’s “ideal” for ages 3-7, but I didn’t see anything wrong with a 2-year-old using it.
Little People Nativity. Buy this pre-Christmas, if you can. I bought this nativity set from Toys R Us last January and it’s already brought so much excitement to my toddler. (He really loves the camel.)
Lego Cars Pit Stop. I saw this at Toys R Us and they are SO COOL. And age appropriate. For the Lego-lover, I definitely recommend these. (They’re way cheaper in store, by the way.) Oh, and there is also a Planes version that looks so fun.
