3 items I’m running with this spring

I’m running regularly again and I even have races on the calendar! It’s interesting to look back on my running habits and running gear and see what stays consistent and what I change. Because it’s spring, I’m wearing a little less (not as many long pants, and a pullover is hit or miss. The following are items I’m loving right now for springtime running:Ā
New running shoes! I needed new shoes in the worst way this winter, and after I found a gift card I forgot to use a year ago, I bought a new pair of Asics in January. I’m lucky to live near an outlet store, so I got a great deal on them. If you are having any sort of knee or foot pain, think back to when you last bought new running shoes – so often I’ve worn my running shoes for too long and a new pair almost always fixes my problems. If you suffer from foot and heel pain also known as plantar fasciitis but you still enjoy running and exercising, you could benefit greatly from looking into these running shoes for plantar faciitis.
SparkleSkirts – I’m a little new to the SparkleSkirts bandwagon, but I really, really like this skirt/shorts! Technically a skort. š I have the SpaceRace SwingStyle 2.1 and I went with a size large, but I think I could have worn a medium (and will order a medium next time.) They look super cute, and are EXTREMELY functional. Under the sparkly skirt is a pair of shorts, WITH POCKETS. Y’all. The pockets are deep and can hold my phone. (I use an iPhone 6 with Otterbox Defender case – it isn’t tiny, but also isn’t a tablet.) My standard earbuds that came with my phone reach my ears with no problem if my phone is in the pocket of the shorts. Also? The SparkleSkirt has a zipper pocket that can hold my keys! I’m used to wearing a running belt and wondering what to do with all the things I train with. (Think keys, phone, tissues, ID, something to eat if I’m out on a run of more than 6 miles.)Ā
The shorts under the skirt mean I don’t get the dreaded chaffing and it’s just so comfortable to wear. I have now worn the skirt on runs up to 6 miles, and have had zero issues with it sliding around or my legs rubbing together. I’ll keep you posted as my mileage increases!Ā
If you’re on Instagram, go see my highlights – I talked about SparkleSkirts a few weeks ago and I pinned it all to the top of my Instagram profile.Ā
My RoadID tag. I have had a RoadID for years, and it’s small, out of the way, and it’s easy to slip on. I have the one for my shoe as well (that link is to the bracelet.) I have interchangeable bracelets depending on my mood (do I like pink or purple that day?) and the fabric one for my shoe is so simple to leave on my shoes (but I’m not photographing it here so my mom and husband’s phone numbers aren’t published for the world to see.) If I’m ever injured, someone would have my husband and my mom’s contact info right away. Also they would know that I have an allergy to amoxicillin.Ā
Are you training for any races? What items do you like to wear during spring workouts?
Not that I run like ever – but I do want to check out that Road ID tag. And the skirts, if they come in my size!
I love mine. I even recommended it to a friend whose child has epilepsy. You can put whatever important info you want on the metal piece, and can switch out the bracelet band. š
