training Tuesday.
This should be titled “the one with all the bronchitis.” Sometimes you just have to listen to your body and take a break. And, boy, did my body tell me to take a break. About a week and a half ago I developed another cough that just left me feeling weak. By Wednesday morning, I knew I had been defeated. So I took the day off, and went back to the walk-in clinic. (I saw the same doctor who told me I was overweight last time.) I was diagnosed with bronchitis, given three prescriptions and I was on my way.
One of the prescriptions was just for three days and it left me feeling nauseous every day. It totally defeated the purpose of losing weight since I was having to eat to not throw up. I exercised when I felt I could. I mainly took the week off. I worked out four times.
Tuesday – elliptical for 35 minutes.
Thursday – weights.
Monday – 30 hard minutes on the elliptical. I upped the level of intensity and kept my speed up. I completed about 3.4 miles before the cool down.
I have a 10k I’m running this weekend with Bari. I’m definitely going to be running it as a fun run. Next week I’m going to do a 5k at the university I work for. Another fun run. I really, really have to get into gear to run a half marathon in June!
Do you take breaks when you’re sick, or do you push through? (I know people who do both.)
Oh yuck! Feel better! Bronchitis is the worst.
ugh being sick stinks! great job listening to your body & resting to help it heal.
