training Tuesday – crushing June (week 1)

I am officially not signed up for any races. It’s a little odd. In fact, I have not run since Friday. I’ve done other things, but I think my legs needed a break.

I’m doing a few workout plans(?) right now. I’m doing the 30-day Shred this month (and I’m trying to be more consistent with it.) I’m also doing the Shrinking Jeans abs workout this month. I started that last Tuesday and have actually done a few two-a-day workouts so I could get caught up. I’m caught up now! My third workout “plan” is running whatever I feel like, whenever I want. It’s a good plan.

Last week, I also jumped on the DietBet train and am working on losing 4% of my weight by July. (I had fewer than 5 pounds to lose, so I’m hoping this will help motivate me.) I’ve reigned in some of my eating and I’ve increased my water intake. One day, I may even be able to kick my diet soda obsession.

All this stuff means I may be pulling two workouts in one day. I think that’s okay. My goal is to get roughly 45 minutes of exercise each day. If I do Shred, I’d love to also walk that day. If I happen to run at lunchtime, I’d like to get 3-4 miles (or more.) I want to keep things interesting. Also, I don’t know if I should count swim lessons as exercise. We’re doing them this month, but maybe I’ll just count those as quality time.

Onto the exercise!

Tuesday – I woke up before 6, did the Shred workout, level 1. I then did day 1 of the June Abs workout from Shrinking Jeans. At lunch we did a 3.08 mile run as we tried to navigate the course we’d be running on Friday. We also stopped for lunch and after lunch we walked 0.75 mile back to the office. (is anyone tired yet?) After work, I did the second abs workout. I’m trying to catch up since I missed the first 3 days.

Wednesday – I really tried to wake up early to do the Shred workout, but it didn’t happen. I did, however, do 120 crunches before work. I ran 2.25 miles at lunch and felt awful. Followed my work day with another 30 crunches. See Tuesday’s workout. Probably not my wisest decision.

Thursday – 30 Day Shred, level 1. Abs workout (twice).

Friday Chamber Challenge 5k in 30:26. Abs workout.

Saturday – Kind of a rest day. We had swim lessons for the toddler-boy, I did some yard work and later an abs workout. We also took a walk in the neighborhood (which is a little over a mile.)

Sunday – 30 Day Shred, level 1. Abs workout.

Monday – I was incredibly sore from Sunday’s Shred workout (because I really tried to push hard during level 1.) I did the 30 Day Shred, level 2. Today was a rest day for the abs workout (so I only did what was required during the Shred workout.)

I’m so sore. I think doing the Shred workout this month is going to make a difference. I can feel it in my arms and I hope I can see it by the end of June.
