Alright. I am officially training for the DC Half Marathon.

I decided on March 1 that I wanted to do the March abs workouts that Shrinking Jeans posted about. I did the workout on Monday (after my marathon) thinking I’d catch up since there was nothing on Sundays. And then I didn’t do anything the rest of the week. I started over on Friday. So I’ll be a week behind their workouts!

I did very little (read: nothing) during the week. I had intentions of running at lunchtime on Friday and then forgot my running socks and sports bra at home. I could have found a way to get socks, but not an extra sports bra, so I sat it out.

Saturday – 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. This was nice and slow for me. My knees were still a little sore on the downhill, but I ran in my neighborhood, chatted with neighbors and even encountered a friendly pig. It was a good short run. Also did a short abs workout. In addition to all that, we took a one mile walk in our neighborhood. Go, us!

Sunday – 3 miles in 31 minutes. Another easy run. I wish I had taken my iPod, but I’ve misplaced it since last Sunday’s race. I’m loving daylight saving time at the moment. I did this run at 5:30 p.m. and had so much daylight to spare! Also, abs work. Oh, and another walk in the neighborhood for one mile. (Four miles total today!)

Monday – It rained, and I was anticipating the rain much later in the day. With no desire to get sick, I called off my run and chose to do something different. I ended up doing some Wii Fit exercises. Most of them were strength exercises and abs exercises. It wasn’t much, but it was something. And that counts.

I’m hoping I can get a few lunch runs in this week. We’re going to be traveling over the weekend and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get a long run in (so I may do that on Thursday during lunch.) My long run this week will be 5 or 6 miles.Ā

Finally, linking up over here this week.Ā

  1. You have time to train and just came off a marathon, so easing back in isn’t a bad thing. Can’t wait to see how the race goes for you – I was so close to registering for that one.

  2. Girl you are so crazy impressive! I can’t believe all the marathoning and half-ing you’ve done. So inspiring for me, looking at my first half! How did your recent one go?

Also, I just switched to using Disqus for my comments and haven’t been getting the emails. SO. In response to your comment, I’m so glad you found my blog! I’m trying pretty hard at my training anyway, whether I’m doing well is another matter. šŸ™‚ Today was one of those days I didn’t really want to get out there but I did! šŸ™‚ Thanks for linking up!

  3. Did you say you encountered a friendly pig on your run? I seriously want to run where you run! That is hilarious!

A couple months ago I forgot my sports bra and I was like, Dude I really need to run so I just went in my regular bra. WORST.MISTAKE.EVER. So sweaty for the rest of the work day (I work out on my lunch break normally) and I’m pretty sure I smelled like boobsweat for like 3 days afterwards even with taking showers.

Your training sounds like it’s going great. Congrats on doing the DC Half Marathon! Is this your first one?

    Thanks for linking up!

    1. We live near a place that has animals for therapy. And they have a few other random animals (like the pig) for fun. Sometimes the animals get out. Once my husband was chased by a goat. šŸ™‚

  4. I totally just read your about me and uh, duh, you’ve ran halfs before. And fulls! I’ve not done a full yet but I’m toying with the idea. Any advice you have send it my way!

  5. I started on Monday trying to get in shape… Running for more than 1 minute is about all I can handle with a fast walk between- I’m SUPER behind! I think a Marathon is VERY far for me but applaud you for doing it– and I would have sat it out too without a bra and socks. šŸ™‚ Think of it like this– you were just SAVING money.

  6. I want to meet a pig! soo cool!

I don’t know what your training/running looked like before this but it sounds like you have done some distance so this seems like a good way to ease back into it.
