training Tuesday: marathon training week 5
Another tough week. This time, I had a sick kid in the mix and work was crazy (because of the sick kid.) That said, I did get 4 workouts in.
Wednesday – pilates
Friday – pilates
Saturday – Ran 8 miles. (This was about 1:30 in time. Just under 11:30 pace.)
Monday – Ran 2 miles. It was dark (after 6) and I really didn’t feel comfortable running any more because of the lack of light. Safety first, people.
Yes. I didn’t run at all between my 10 and 8-mile runs. No, I didn’t plan on that happening.
I think my time goal for this upcoming marathon is around 5:15. I’d like to run it between 5:15 and 5:30. I don’t think that’s an unattainable goal.
I know this may sound crazy, but I think the pilates will actually help a lot with running. My side didn’t hurt nearly as much after two days of pilates (when I ran 8 miles.) When my core is stronger, I feel like I can focus more on proper running form. So I have high hopes that core workouts will definitely help.
Even though the holidays tend to be crazier (they’re more hectic around here, for sure), I think I may be able to get a better handle on running/working out on a more consistent basis. Wishful thinking? Maybe.
so you really like pilates? i think we might have just not found the right instructor/video because we didn’t get too much out of the classes we took.
