training Tuesday – on vacation

We’re in the middle of traveling and exercising has not been going well.

Tuesday – 30-day Shred, level 3 before lunch. 2 mile run at lunch. I did a lot of exercise for the husband to be out of town. I also felt like I was coming down with a cold or something.

Wednesday – Unintentional rest day. Stress was catching up with me.

Thursday – 30-day Shred, level 3 and then we drove 6 hours to start our vacation. I’m glad I did that workout because the next few days were not impressive.

Friday – I only walked a mile. We were at the beach and the aquarium for a bit, and the weather was iffy later on.

Saturday – Does walking while shopping count? Because I did a lot of that – for 3.5 hours.

Sunday – 2 miles running/jogging with the husband. We did maintain a 10:30 pace, so that was something. We also took a 1-mile walk in the evening.

Monday – 2.4 miles running with the husband. We pulled out a 10:35 pace (and this was after lunch, in the rain. Major obstacles for us to overcome!)

We’re traveling again today. I imagine I may get to do water aerobics at least once or twice this week (on the naval base near my dad’s house) and I’m doing a 5k on Thursday. Other than that? I have no idea what this week has in store for me.

How do you fit in exercising while on vacation (or traveling, in general?) I don’t have access to a gym and the weather has been working against us (severe thunderstorms/tornado warnings, for example.)

  1. Safe travels! Hopefully the weather cooperates for you and you can get some decent workouts in.

I usually just bring my running shoes and if I can fit something in, great, if not, I try not to stress about it.

  2. I’m the same way as Bari — I just bring my running gear and hope for the best! When I went to Oregon in May, I didn’t run once, and the thing I was most disappointed in was how much space I’d used in my luggage for running things. šŸ™‚

  3. Yea, I don’t really fit it in while on vacation and tend to eat a lot more so yea vacations are bad for my midsection

It’s so hard to exercise on vacation. I usually plan for easy weeks during vacation and work out hard before and after. I like to get up early and run before others get up to “discover” and get my bearings.
    And– shopping counts– sure!
