training Tuesday – pollen infused workouts #mileadayMay
In case you missed it yesterday, I’m walking/running/getting a mile of exercise in each day. Walking isn’t so bad that it keeps me from resting on my rest days, but I also don’t give myself too many cheat days.
Let’s take a look at training this past week! Remember, my next “big” race is the half marathon in early June.
Tuesday – I was feeling blah. I had every intention of working out. And I ended up skipping the workout (I can’t even remember what I did now.)
Wednesday – Elliptical for 25 minutes (3 miles) and some abs work. (I normally do lunch with co-workers. I bailed this time. I felt kind of bad, but not as bad as when I didn’t exercise on Tuesday.)
Thursday – Walked 30 minutes (a little more than a mile) on the Wii Fit. This managed to jack up the back of my knee and calf muscle, from not wearing shoes.
Friday – 3.25 miles outside. I felt like I was going faster than my Monday run, but I was actually slower. And the pollen was out in full force. It was not a good day and began my allergy attack that is still wreaking havoc on my system. (The photo above is from the run that made me feel like death. Also, that hill is the long one I climbed last Monday with no problem. And I did it again on Friday.)
Saturday – walked a mile (at around 9 p.m.)
Sunday – Ran 8 miles. An ok pace (under 11 minutes per mile, and that included hanging at a couple of stop lights.) I actually felt pretty good the first 5 or 6 miles, and only sneezed once. When I got back in my car, it hit me. All the pollen. I can’t handle being outdoors right now.
Monday – Weights + Elliptical for 2 miles + some more abs work.
The pollen forecast for this week is out of control awful-looking. It’s not even “high.” It’s “extremely high” as in, we’re hitting the red zone for tree pollen. So I don’t know what the next few days will bring in terms of running outdoors. I also have graduation this weekend and it’s going to be an intense meeting day on Friday (so no lunch workout.) I need to schedule my walking/running before and after work. That’s what the challenge is all about!
do you treat your allergies or prefer to go all natural & suffer through them?
I don’t have bad ones but I eat local honey & visit w/my chiro about them, I also know someone advertising that Young Living Oils has helped their family with theirs. on the other hand, my brother gets the shots š
I take an OTC and I just recently started a spray that my doctor prescribed. This past weekend hit me like a ton of bricks. Looking back at Timehop, this is ALWAYS a tough week allergy-wise, for me. (My brother and my mom also suffer – my mom gets shots.)
