Training Tuesday: Running in Florida
I have to confess…this wasn’t the best week for my workouts. I did a weights workout last Tuesday before my alumni event. And then everything just kind of fell apart.
We walked for hours on Thursday, and I went for a 5-mile run on Friday. (Saturday was 9 hours in the car.) My run on Friday, though, was great. I had hopes for running 8 miles, but the humidity did me in, and I needed to get back so my husband could go for his run. (My goal for this weekend is 9 miles. We’ll see how that works out!)
I’m grateful for the flatness of Atlantic Beach, Florida. I stopped to take photos, and I didn’t run on the actual beach, but my pace was still close to 10 minutes per mile. I didn’t set out with a time goal, but this made me feel a little bit better about where I am in training.
My half marathon is in a month. (WHOA!) I don’t know how that happened!
I’m working on increasing my mileage (obviously) and for the next few weeks I’m really focusing on my diet. I’ve got to get my food in check. I’m on day 2 of removing 95% of processed foods, and so far, so good. I really, really want carbs, but I’m trying to distract myself.
Are you training for anything?
Way to go running on vacay!!!
I registered last weekend for a 5k this Saturday. it ends w/a steep uphill, I am a little bit dreading, but I am going on week 2 of yoga in the mornings & had planned to add some evening outdoor runs but its rainy today & forecasted for the rest of the week…
running in atlanta this weekend and am skeerd of the heat/humidity.
gorgeous pictures! š
I’m jealous of a run anywhere near the beach! I haven’t smelled salty ocean air in forever. I have my first full marathon in 10 days. Yikes! I’m feeling nervous & woefully unprepared, but at this point it’s more important to taper & rest & build up my strength than to try to squeeze anymore long runs or hard workouts in. Good luck in your half!
