training Tuesday. Time to bring it.
I did very little running this past week. Some walking, a lot of elliptical, and most everything was done indoors. I had a super stressful week at work, and I did everything I could to get miles in, but I also couldn’t be a mess mid-day on Thursday and Friday (meetings/luncheons), so it was just a strategically difficult week to get running in.
I’m running a race this coming weekend and I’m completely unprepared. It’s a 15k (so more than 9 miles. eek!) and I’ve done this race several times in years past. I’ll be run/walking it with my friend Carol, so we’ll definitely enjoy ourselves. I just don’t want to die during this run. It’s going to be treated as a training run, for sure.
I have very few weeks left before my half marathon!
And after the half marathon, I have new goals. I’m only signed up for a Color Run in July, and my goal is to maintain a base of 6 miles. I don’t want to have to train up to 6 miles for a long time. I would like to just go out for a 5 or 6-mile run and feel like it’s a 5k. I want it to be easy again. It’ll take a little (lot) more work, but it can be done.
I’m not going to do a day by day replay of my workouts this past week. I worked hard on the elliptical. I asked a football player to train me (sadly, he graduated on Saturday, so he won’t be around this summer) and I’ve increased the amount of weight I lift (from 8 to 10 pounds.) So there’s been some progress! Just not a lot of running.
My allergies are back under control, but now I have an eye infection, so I have to wear glasses for the next week. I don’t normally wear glasses when I exercise. The race on Sunday is going to be crazy interesting.
How has your training been going? Any fun races coming up?
I am with you. I want it to be easy & feel good again. I am totally done w/my shoe/foot drama. hurt or not I am going on. š
