Training Tuesday – traveling edition
I have a few training/running posts this week. It just kind of happened that way (and one involves a giveaway, so you’ll want to check back!) Today, though, I have Training Tuesday! Finally – a full week of workouts! No excuses!
Tuesday – I ran 3.5 miles in Indianapolis! A complete post with photos of what I was able to see is coming later this week.
Wednesday – 3 miles on the treadmill. It started raining. I hate the treadmill.
Thursday – 30 minutes on the elliptical (because I couldn’t bear to do the treadmill again, but I wanted to get a workout in.)
Friday – travel day and all of my walking was in the airport.
Saturday – 10k in 1:06. A race report to come. I felt pretty good, and my shoes finally didn’t cut off circulation in my feet!
Sunday – Walked two miles.
Monday – Started out on the elliptical (for 5 minutes) and then got 23 minutes in on the treadmill. It was a weird lunch hour. The elliptical is right next to the door to the fitness center, and I had to let two people in because the door was malfunctioning. I gave up and decided to run.
I’m excited that I got so many workouts in – and on a heavy travel week! I’m traveling again in a couple of weeks and I have high hopes! I’m also running a 5k this weekend. I have NO idea what to expect with this race. I know I can do it, but I am not confident with my speed at this point.
Do you find it more difficult to exercise when traveling? What do you do to make sure you get your workouts in?
When I travel, I don’t workout. I make it a point to take the time off. I workout 7 days a week at home, so that is plenty for me.
Rather than sitting down and blogging, I am currently on a yoga mat with my iPad on a stand. That means my but is not parked in the couch.
When I travel I don’t work out but I know I should though. I need to be working out more in general.
great job fitting your workouts in. I don’t always do that and need to do better.
Great job getting your workouts in. I need to be more disciplined with that.
I hate the treadmill, too. I’d much rather run outside.
i have feet problems but I really want to get more running in. I’m headed out tonight for a 1 1/2 h our walk/jog session
Awesome job with your runs. I definitely find it more difficult to exercise when traveling to the point I usually don’t. Hopefully wherever I am at I am just getting in plenty of steps to make it count.
I don’t workout when I travel. My daughter does and she just schedules it early in the day or on an afternoon break.
I go right down to the hotel gym first thing in the morning. It’s nice to have that change of pace.
Congrats to you on your run!
I am not currently exercising but I hope to get back into it soon. You are inspiring me to get moving.
I don’t exercise at home. There’s a better chance of me getting some sort of exercise in when I’m away then when I;m home.
It depends on the schedule. If it’s a fun trip I tend to relax. If it’s business I’m pretty much constantly moving.
I do find it harder to make time to exercise when traveling. But then again, I kinda figure, if I’m on vacation, then I’m taking a vacation from exercising too! lol!
When I used to travel for work I enjoyed taking time for the gym at the hotel – great stress relief for me.
YES, it absolutely is tougher to exercise when traveling. All I want to do is sleep and veg and sight see!
Way to go! You are doing awesome! I always find it hard to work out while traveling.
I always worry about getting lost if I’m traveling. Because I can’t exactly read a map.
Way to keep moving! M/W/F I’m good it’s T/Th and S that complicate my workouts. LOL You’re doing awesome. I want to get back to runnign so bad.
Go you! Great pictures!!!!
It is good that you were able to keep the exercise routine going even while traveling.
Good for you for doing so well! Working out while traveling would be the last thing on my mind, so extra props to you.
I don’t travel much but do like to get workouts in. Of the travelling I do, much of it is to run a destination race so I already have a workout scheduled. Running in a new city is a great way to see the sights.
I need to get past the “no excuses” phase and just start doing an exercise plan. Thanks for your inspiration 🙂
I try to arrange my workouts around shorter trips, where I don’t have to do them. However, If I’m going for a longer trip, I will try to do minimal running 3 times a week. I actually find it’s a great way to experience a new city! I have some great running memories on vacation! As long as I’m not training for a race though, I don’t beat myself up if it doesn’t happen.
I always have good intentions to workout when I travel but hardly ever end up doing it.
I really do need to work out more. I really don’t work out when I travel
WAY TO GO!!! WHAT TERRIFIC DISCIPLINE! I would rather lounge around 😉
can’t wait to see the race report!
I never really exercised much before so it was never an issue when traveling. This June I plan to keep the workouts up as best I can but I know I will be doing a ton of walking so if I can’t, I can’t.
Congrats on your training updates. I need to find some motivation!
I think I workout more when I travel than when I don’t. Is that a bad thing?!
You are doing awesome! I am so glad that the weather is making a turn around.
I actually find I exercise more when I’m traveling or on vacation… hotels have gyms right there so I am more motivated to go then I am at home. LOL
I definitely find it harder to work out when I travel. I really need to change that though.
You did great, it’s definitely hard to exercise when traveling. Most of our travel the last few years has been to parks, like Disneyland and Legoland, so there’s a lot of walking built in.
I barly workout now much less when I’m traveling. Kudos to you for getting it in. Keep up the hard work.
