We’re getting into dangerous training territory….dangerously close to the marathon. Or dangerously close to the end of training, whichever way you prefer to look at it.

Tuesday – 30-day shred.

Wednesday – nothing (sick baby, sick mom, sick sick sick.)

Thursday – 2.5 miles in 24 degree wind chill with 26 mph wind gusts. FUN!

Friday – nothing.

Saturday – 16.5 miles. (More about this below.)

Sunday – Walked.

Monday -Ran a little over 2 miles. It was about an 11:30 mile pace.

Tuesday (today) – I plan on running at lunch. I have my stuff, I have running partners and I have my route planned out. Oh, and it’s going to be around 65 degrees today. Take that, Friday ice storm!

The 30-day Shred has been better than I anticipated. I moved up to 5-lb. weights and my arms definitely feel stronger. I think it’s helping with my core a lot, too.

The Thursday run was fun! It was sunny, but oh-so-cold. I was heckled near the courthouse (I hope if that guy was there for a court appearance that he was found guilty or lost whatever case he may have been there for. because he was a jerk.) As I was finishing the longgggg hill near the civic center, someone said to me, “just 10 more miles!” and I replied, “something like that!” He was totally joking and nice. And I needed that. Not the heckling.

The Saturday run. Oh my. I ended up canceling my original meet-up with Carol and Melissa. It was supposed to be icy, and we didn’t want to risk anything. I got off to a late start in my neighborhood and I ended up calling it quits after 11.5 miles. I hurt. A lot. Later in the morning, I texted Carol to see if she’d be up for a few miles in the afternoon. I met her at a park (during the kiddo’s naptime) and we just happened to run into Melissa as she was about to start her run! So we got in another 5 miles, and I felt better. I *should* have run 18 miles. I ended with 16.5. I don’t think that’s a total loss.

I do have to admit that if it had not been for them, I would have been on twitter or facebook trying to sell my race entry on Saturday afternoon. Training has been tough – physically and mentally. I am not cut out for marathon training right now. As a few people told me over the weekend, I need to make it through the first 20 miles, and then I can walk the last 6.2 if I absolutely have to. So we’ll see how I feel after this coming weekend.

Melissa posted this on my Facebook timeline on Saturday. I immediately felt better.

My Monday run was good. It’s very warm right now, and it was a much-needed run through the neighborhood, minus the cold weather gear.

The downside to all of this exercising/training? I’m not losing weight. I need to figure that out. It’s annoying. It’s somewhat expected (I always gain weight when training for marathons), but it’s highly annoying.

  1. “If there are two paths, I wanna be on the one that leads to awesome!” Love that quote; it can be our mantra on Saturday!
