For Christmas, I received the fabulous food dehydrator. I’ve dehydrated a few types of fruit, and I usually dehydrate 5 trays of bananas about every other week, if not every week. I’ve dried apples (and even tried a pear) but bananas are the easiest and I love banana chips. But, really, I needed to try something new.
Today I headed to the garden to attack the oregano plant that was trying to take over our lettuce. I read in the book that 8 pounds of fresh oregano is equivalent to one pound dried. Crazy. I definitely didn’t have 8 pounds, and I’m a little interested to see how the oregano turns out tomorrow (I am about to turn the dehydrator off to let it cool overnight.)
Do I have any fellow dehydrator fans who have dried their own herbs? How did it go??
