This is spring break week for the husband at work, so we took this as an opportunity to take a road trip, aka vacation by ourselves. We began our journey across the state on Saturday and stopped in Aberdeen, NC. We stayed at a bed and breakfast there and I learned what a true “small town” is. Wow. I got some of the best sleep, though, since we were in bed by 9:30 and woke up at 7:30 Sunday morning. (Now, if only I hadn’t slept on my arm wrong and pinched a nerve or something. Still dealing with the pain from my neck down through my finger tips.)
Yesterday, we continued our trip to Atlantic Beach, NC. I was a little concerned that this would be “spring break week” like you used to see on MTV. No worries now! The resort we’re staying at is in a mostly residential area, with few tourist traps around. I haven’t seen many bars, either. We managed to cook dinner last night and will do the same tonight. (Hey, have to save money where we can.)
Soon we’re taking a trip up to Beaufort, NC for a little sightseeing and lunch, before coming back to the resort for water aerobics class. (Have I mentioned that we turned 60 while on this trip?) 🙂
There will be some beach time mixed in with our trip, but no riding the waves. The ocean water is COLD!
I love quiet vacations. And I’ll have plenty of photos when we return!
