Views from my run: Downtown Indianapolis
I traveled two weeks ago and I love doing these posts (views from my run). I take a lot of photos when I run. That week I was in Indianapolis for a work conference, and I had 20 hours from the time I checked in at my hotel to when I had to register the next day for the conference. So the first thing I did was go for a run.
I’m so lucky because I stayed at the Hilton downtown and it’s so close to so many great places! My room literally looked at the state capitol building!
The girl at the front desk told me how to get to Canal Road and said it was safe and there would be other runners, so I took off.
I kept circling and backtracking and in the end I got in 3.3 miles. It ended up being a slowish run because of all the picture taking, but it was so great.
I loved ending up on their Culture Trail, seeing the Colts’ stadium, running beside water all while keeping my eye on my hotel. (I’m awful with directions. AWFUL. So it’s a wonder I don’t get lost in cities I’m unfamiliar with, while running.)
Have you run in any new places lately? Do you like taking photos of your running escapades? And how do explore new cities if you have a short time frame?
Wow, that is impressive that you can run and take pictures at the same time. Or do you keep stopping to take the pictures? If I stop during a run, I end up walking afterwards.
I tend to take photos while running. Sometimes, if the objects are far away (think horses and cows) I may stop. š
The stadium looks very cool! I went running in St. Louis MO in January.. but there was so much SNOW!
Beautiful views!!! I am loving all this pretty weather everyone is having lately!
What great views and some great shots! I have never been to Indianapolis before. I need to add that to my to-do list.
This is such a fun idea, to document the places you’ve run! You had so much to look at on your run.
That looks like it was a pretty epic run. Those are some great photos. Thanks for sharing!
These are great scenes for stopping to snap a few pics on your run. Usually people are running in wooded areas, not in the city. Nice to see a change of scenery
Great pics! I haven’t been running lately.. but I did walk my son to his pre-school last week. It was our firs time to do it.
I love how you share all of these pictures! I would never think to stop and take some pics!
I don’t run. What was the tall thing with all of the colored squares/tiles?
That’s great that you take pictures while you un! Great way to remember where you’e been!
i don’t take pics. i can barely focus enough to breathe and not get lost. i think i’m doing something wrong. LOL
So beautiful! I love the historic buildings. I have not ran a lot in downtown areas, but we’re traveling to DC next week to see my sis, and I can’t wait to run there. Super excited.
I have friends from Indy and they love it. It looks like a beautiful city.
I’m terrible with directions too. Glad to hear I’m in good company. š Your pics are great here!
I’m from southern Indiana but I rarely ever get to the Indianapolis area. There are lots of great things to see there though!
Wow, beautiful scenery! I need a great atmosphere when I run.
that’s fun that you take pics on your run. Your pics were beautiful. I walk and go to the Y. No running, my knees are too old.
I can barely run let along take pictures AND run! You got some amazing shots – Tracey @ Just a Trace
Those are some great views. I wouldn’t mind checking out that city!
i’m always scared to take pics WHILE running. I’d probably fall
The state capitol building and the artwork are amazing! I wish I had sights like that where I run – I would run a lot more often!
Wow! That was quite the scenic run! I did my first trail run Sunday on trails in the same park that I’ve run on dozens of times. I never realized there were running trails there and how beautiful they were!
These are really great views! I’m glad that you got to enjoy them!
What a pretty city! I love the views!
There were definitely many cool things to see! I love exploring new cities.
Wow, Downtown Indianapolis is beautiful. Looks like you had a great time. I want to take a road trip there- I heard they have an awesome Children’s Museum and Zoo!
Those are some beautiful places to see when you are running. I run at the gym, so my scenery isn’t too pretty LOL
