weekend recap…water, fancy dinners and fall(ing)
Rather than a menu Monday (or, rather, a meal planning) post, I thought I could recap the weekend. List style, of course.
I’m currently lounging in bed where I’ve been for over an hour. For the second time in a week, I fell on our back deck. There’s a ramp on the deck because the previous homeowners needed one for their basset hound. We bought tape strips today to put on it to help with traction. Unfortunately for me, it rained this afternoon and we couldn’t put the tape down. so I fell. Again. Hard. I’m so dumb.
I took the toddler to my boss’s pool yesterday morning. He loves water so much, but we all hate the rain. I’m so thankful that I had the time to take him in the morning because it rained in the afternoon. Story of our lives.
The husband’s birthday is in a week and we went out to dinner last night. He’s been wanting to try a place that’s only a couple of miles away, but it’s kind of like the best kept secret in Asheville. I need to do a full post on the restaurant. It’s only open for dinner Thursday-Sunday and it occupies an old service station. (The restroom is still outside – behind the building.) The food was pretty amazing and I’m so glad we went. (We want to go again. Soon.)
I never sprayed my garden for bugs this year and squash bores got my zucchini. I’ve had to pull all of the plants out and I spent at least an hour today inspecting the butternut squash plants for bugs. It’s pretty sick how obsessed I am with those plants and making sure they are okay. I have two (and possibly a third) butternut squash in the very early growth stages and I’ve never ever produced a butternut squash in my garden. Zucchini has always thrived in the garden, but not this year. We also have a yellow squash plant that has grown near our compost. Rather than cut it down, we’re seeing what it can do.
Because of all of the rain, my tomato plants may not make it. I did, however, pick 3 cucumbers yesterday and I’m pretty psyched about them. We have bell peppers too. The weather has been so maddening and it’s so sad. I have a small garden, so I can’t imagine what our local farmers are feeling with the terrible conditions.
I made another card with washi tape this evening (while lying in bed. seriously. that fall was intense.) I’m going to post soon my washi projects. They’re pretty fun.
Now if only I could finish crafting stuff for the toddler’s second birthday. I’m ready to have that party ready to go! I think we’re going to be holding his party before lunchtime (running through lunch and serving lunch foods, of course.) I don’t want to mess with naptime, and a late morning party seems like the best thing for him. Have you ever done this or attended a late morning party?
How was your weekend?
so i’m guessing no roaches at the new restaurant? š
