This was fun last week (or was it the week before?) I’m reading a lot (for me) and I’ve basically sworn off most television for the summer. It’s a GOOD feeling! (Alert: Some of the links below are affiliate links. Some are just informational.)

What I'm Reading Wednesday - lovejaime.com

I finished Emily Giffin’s The One & Only last week. I almost quit on this book. I even made it about 75% through the book and told my husband one night that I was so mad about the storyline that I didn’t know if I could bring myself to read any more. I finally did finish it. It was decent. NOT my favorite Emily Giffin book, by any means. It’s also not the worst book in the world. If you love football and unconventional relationships, this book is just for you!

A couple of weeks ago, someone on Instagram posted a photo of a Kristan Higgins book and I was intrigued. I added the book to my Amazon cart, just to remember the author. On Saturday morning, I went into a used bookstore (I got there right when they opened) to see if they had one of her books. I was willing to try her out. I bought one book. The Best Man.

I read the book in one day. I went home, and in between playing with my son, then his naptime, baking cupcakes for my husband’s birthday party that night, I finished 90% of the book. I had only a couple of chapters remaining when a friend showed up to babysit the toddler. She recommended I take the book with me. SO I DID. I finished it at the Pinball Museum (lucky for me, there are a few couches there – it’s not 100% pinball games.)

The Best Man revolves around Faith. It’s basically a girl-knows-obnoxious-boy for most of her life and after going through a series of unfortunate relationships, she and obnoxious boy rediscover each other. More misunderstandings happen. (And that’s just my terrible synopsis. I loved the book. I thought it was humorous, entertaining and not too risque.)

To feed my addiction, we went back to that bookstore the next evening and I bought three more Kristan Higgins books. I started All I Ever Wanted on Sunday night. I finished it on Monday night. (I obviously worked on Monday.) I believe my exact words to my husband were, “please don’t let me start another book tonight.” I’m so addicted to her books. They’re easy and fast (obviously. Plus I’m a fast reader.) And while her story lines are fairly predictable, they’re different and good! (Girl falls for boy who doesn’t appear to be her type. Conflict occurs. Boy gets upset. Girl is upset. Things work out how they’re supposed to.)

I did a little googling (and adding books to my Amazon wish list) and found that there are a few books that can be read in order, but all of the books can stand alone. Good to know.

I have two books on their way to my house that are NOT chick-lit or Kristan Higgins-related. I’m excited to share those in the coming weeks!

What are you reading right now? (I normally don’t read, so this is all very exciting for me!)
