Why I chose Kia for my latest car

After more than 16 years of driving a different car brand, I made the switch to Kia 11 months ago and I’m happy to share my reasons for that change.

Thanks to Williamsburg Kia for collaborating on this post. As always, opinions are my own.

This time last year, I was in the market for a new-to-me car. My car was a brand that hadn’t been in business for several years, and it had definitely lived its best life. It had reached the point of no return (and was costing more in repairs than a car payment each month), and I started scouting Kia models. I have some family members who gave me a little push back on my decision to go with a Kia, but after my experience I would do it ALL over again. And then some.

Reasons I went with the Kia brand:

I’ve driven a few Kia models over the years, whether rental cars or at a conference when Kia was a sponsor. I liked the feel of the cars, and they felt safe. Safety is important to me, especially since I have two kids I’m toting around a lot.

The prices aren’t outrageous. I had three models I was comparing, and even as a new car, Kia was affordable. (I prefer to buy a newer used model, which was even MORE affordable!)

So much space in the back seat! I took my son along for test driving, and I tested cars with him in the back – and his booster seat. I also measured my daughter’s convertible car seat, and there is plenty of room for her to stretch her legs in the back! I got a car that is considered a hatchback style, and I’ve never had issues packing everything I needed for a long trip or a large grocery trip in the back.

The salespeople were not pushy with me. I was in the Kia dealership the last week of the year, and I didn’t feel pressure. In fact, my son and I left the dealership and went to a movie that afternoon. I came back to the dealership the next day to close the deal on my new (to me) vehicle.

The service department has been top notch. I’ve had my car 11 months and I have taken it to the dealership once because I had a question about changing a tail light. They were incredibly helpful, gave me a ride when I needed one (they fixed something else for me in that time) and very timely. I loved everyone I came in contact with.
