We went to dinner tonight and came home with a lawn mower. How, you might ask? Well. It’s a weird story.

We decided to check out lawn mowers today. The yard could use a cut and we kind of need to own our own mower, so we’re not borrowing my mom’s every time. There is only so many times I can mow her yard, in order to borrow the mower to mow my own. We began our search by going online to Read YardMasterz review of the best electric lawn mowers on the market, from there we would be able to see if we wanted electric or gasoline. I’d probably have awesome arms by the end of the summer, though. A good friend of ours had recommended we check out some Berti Mulchers for our lawn, but in all honesty we were just looking for something basic that would get the job done.

So. Onto Lowe’s. I love that store. They let me down today, though. We wanted a basic lawn mower without having to go broke. We realized you can get a basic mower for $500. That’s not helping us. We checked out K-Mart (weird, I know, but there’s one right near our house) and came close to buying one, but we’re indecisive. It’s just how we roll.

Came home and looked through the ads and found another one. Thought I might go check it out this week.

Fast forward to dinner at the grandparent’s house. I don’t even know how the subject came up, but we were discussing the yard and someone asked if we had mowed the lawn yet. Nope. I mentioned that we might be “those people” in the neighborhood that let the yard run wild. My grandpa didn’t buy it and asked if we wanted a “reel” lawn mower.

Totally old school. Totally eco-friendly. Totally free.

Here’s the husband testing it out – doesn’t he look great mowing our lawn?

Don’t worry. I didn’t force him to mow the lawn. I took over after about 20 minutes. I’m actually digging the manual mower. It’s nice. A little relaxing. Yes, it takes longer, but it’s great exercise and it’ll buy us some time until we find something that’s even better. Plus, we don’t have to buy gas for this or pay much for maintenance.

So, there you have it. We went to dinner and came home with a lawn mower. I totally didn’t see that one coming.
